TIPS & HOW TO

Get a Copy of Your Complete Property Insurance Policy

Any future claim starts with you having a detailed understanding of what your Property Policy covers. This is how you find out if the damages you suffered are covered by your Policy. We can help by letting a Public Adjuster analyze the Policy for you.

Step one is to upload your current complete Property Policy to your Dashboard. A typical Homeowners Policy is 45 to 65 pages and a Business Policy is 100 to 120 pages, but most insurance companies only provide you with the 4 to 6 Declaration pages. This is insufficient. So, the fastest and easiest way to obtain your complete Policy is to call customer service, at your insurance company. Unless you have an exceptional agent, they’ll tell you to call your insurance company directly. When you get a live customer service representative on the line, simply ask them to email to you a complete Policy including Declarations, Forms and Endorsements.

That’s it. Once you receive it, Login to ClaimsAdvisor and upload the Policy to your Dashboard.

Take Photos

Next you should take photos of any articles and belongings that are covered under your Property Policy to document that they belong to you. Take a look at each room in your home and office, and take 2 to 4 photos of each room paying close attention to the following details:

  • Furniture and Lighting Fixtures
  • Flooring and Baseboard
  • Wall and Ceiling including crown molding
  • Electronic Equipment including computers, printers, and audio/visual.
  • Artwork
  • Jewelry and Watches
  • Crystal and China
  • Silverware
  • Appliances in the kitchen and laundry room
  • Clothing, Furs and Shoes
  • Handbags and Leather articles
  • Exercise Equipment
  • Collectibles

Anything that’s covered under your Property Policy should be photographed and uploaded to your Dashboard. Feel free to take extra pictures and make sure they are focused and properly lit to ensure clarity.

Extra Detail

If you have the time and attention to detail, you can rename each photo. For example “Living Room”, “Waterford Vase” and “Porcelain Tile 24X24”.

Uploading Photos

Once you have gathered all your photos, upload about 10 pictures at a time to your Dashboard. ClaimsAdvisor is available to you 24/7 so as your time allows you can update your Dashboard.

Upload Receipts

Another valuable practice for your protection is to upload receipts of any item that is covered under your Property Policy. It could be a store receipt or credit card statement of a couch you bought years ago or a copy of a cancelled check for a refrigerator you bought today. As you buy and sell or dispose of your belongings and content, you can update your Dashboard in real time.

It only takes a few minutes to protect everything you own.
